Daybreak: Sessions
10-Oct-2009: Pancake Breakfast Based on the Pancake Breakfast adventure seed. Achaiah, Meshail & Nithual Due to a string of strange syrup-related activities--and more importantly, syrup-related disturbances--the three demons were called to MotorCity Casino (a Tether to Greed) and were joined by a Shedite of Death named Farris. Their mission: to discover the source of the infractions and quiet things down before a rumored cadre of Malakim arrived to do some "investigating" of their own. The obvious place to start was in tracking down the likeliest suspect: Morrthis, Demon of Syrup. It took some searching but the team finally found and questioned the Demon of Syrup in one of Detroit's plentiful breakfast nooks. The team discovered that two unexpected demons were in town--demons who first suggested Morrthis gain his Word. Their names were Kackal and Gyggel. It seemed far more likely, based on their questions and the answers given, that the two could be the culprits and potential (if accidental) summoners of the blackwing squad. After fruitless hours of searching, the team caught a lucky break and tracked down a Symphonic Disturbance to its source. The four demons discovered house with an interior coated in various maple syrups and a back yard containing a dead, syrup-drenched dog. The amount of syrup used prompted the team to investigate local grocery stores. The group split into two teams to check the two closest grocery stores--Achaiah and Farris in one team and Meshail and Nithual in the other. Achaiah and Farris saw nothing abnormal in their selected grocery store. So that it wouldn't be a wasted trip, using the Song of Poison, Farris, prompted by his Habbalite partner, altered a row of pistachio ice cream to include heroin in its chemical make-up. The two then returned to the house to find Nithaul pulling a redheaded male figure from a blue pick-up truck. Meshail and Nithaul's examination of their grocery store revealed a solitary bottle of "Log Cabin" syrup remaining on the shelves in the breakfast topping aisles--nee, in the entire store. Questioning an employee revealed the purchasers drove a blue pickup truck. Though it seemed trivial at the time, the two demons then remembered that there was a blue pick-up parked next door to the syruped house. They quickly returned to the scene of the last crime. Nithaul investigated the house while Meshail scouted outside, looking for the truck. Nithaul had no luck in the dark house, with its walls yellowed by smoke, but was soon contacted by Meshail, who had found the pickup idling a few blocks south of the location. Farris, thinking to aid Nithual by running the redhead over in his "borrowed" cab, revved the engine--only expience massive engine failure, causing the car catch fire (oh, those Divine Interventions). The explosion caught the Impudite of War off guard and the truck-driving stranger began to flee down the street. Nithaul was able to subdue the redhead, Kackal, overcoming a potential distraction by the explosion of Farris's "borrowed" cab. Now down to Meshail's car and Nithaul's bike, the four demons and their captive quickly fled to a more discrete location to avoid both additional human and any celestial interventions. Their captive was, as suspected, the demon Kackal. Questioning of Kackal (before dispatching him) revealed that he and Gyggel sought to recreate a situation like the Boston Molasses Disaster of 1919--but this time with maple syrup--and pin the disaster on Morrthis. The team, knowing that the other demon was already on her way to the maple syrup processing plant, quickly gathered into vehicles and made haste to Bloomfield, Michigan. The four demons confronted Gyggel in the processing plant, where she held them at bay with her gun... until she was out of ammo, at least. Then, she ran. Nate caught up with Gyggel outside the factory and Brian planted on her the bomb the demon had planned on using to start the flood of maple syrup. Gyggel was returned to her Heart by the explosion. The demons returned to MotorCity Casino to brief the Seneschal, Joy, on their progress. Though the team never fully resolved which Prince Kackal and Gyggel serve or if the their actions were even acceptable, they do believe that the primary disturbances to the Symphony have been quelled enough that, hopefully, Heaven won't be sending any new Malakim agents to the city any time soon. And that should be worth any potential disfavor, right? Deyinara The Calabite of Hardcore was busy with problems of her own in the Like a Prayer session. |
