25-Oct-2009: Little Lost Soul Playtest of the (to be written) adventure seed in the Abatha write-up. Achaiah, Deyinara & Meshail In order to dilute and better refine the process of making the drug Achaiah believed to be Chimera, the Habbalite of Drugs needed test subjects--preferably expendable celestials. Dealing with Angela, a high-ranking Balseraph of Technology ultimately proved fruitless and Achaiah sought assistance from her only other likely source: "Barty", a Balseraph of Madness she met in her recent escapade in the Marches. Barty promised Achaiah a few demonlings in exchange for a human soul who was lost in Pandemonium. Abatha's domain was not one to be entered lightly, as even powerful demons could become lost or driven to madness within. The Habbalite called on her allies, once more, trading in favors owed. Of the contacted celestials, only two came: Deyinara and Meshail. The latter member of the group believed this lost soul may have been the very prophet whose visions were seen by the Renegade Shedite, Krzkrk'N. Using Detroit's Tether to Drugs, the three demons spent little time in Shal Mari before proceeding to Pandemonium. In Abatha's realm the three demons were assaulted with nonsence phrases and riddles without answer. The demons were forced to "turn left and right at the same time", escape a room where their action was always the opposite of their intent, and deal with a puzzle whose only answer was to remember that they weren't goverened by the laws of the physical plane, but the celestial. Eventually, however, the three made it through the labyrinth that surrounded the Institution. Here there were many, many "lost" human souls and Achaiah took the first two available to her, bending them to her will. She sought escape as quickly as possible. Meshail, on the other hand, had a larger mystery which needed investigation; where was this supposed prophet? Achaiah and Meshail engaged in heated debate regarding their real purpose in Pandemonium and the two decided to part ways. Deyinara, displeased at her experience in Abatha's Principality, blamed Achaiah for her lack of Hardcore fun and decided to travel with the Mediaite, leaving the Pusher with a final image of her middle finger. While Achaiah connived her way out of Pandemonium (losing one of the human souls in the process), Meshail attempted to deal with the Red Queen to obtain the prophet. News that the symbol of Krzkrk'N was appearing on earth was enough to allow for Meshail to spend some time with the human soul, the remains of the prophet. The prophet was, at the time of death, a female in her early teens. The combined weight of her prophetic visions, corruption by the mad Shedite, and time in the Institution had broken her and Meshail was able to pull very little information from her. Cryptic phrases like "the four instruments" and "the storm that will encompass the world" were the only tidbits the demons could glean from the prophet's ramblings. In the end, though, Meshail truly believed something large was about to rock the corporeal realm and the best way to captilize on it and make the world listen to it on the radio was to research it further. Once out of Pandemonium and into the Far Marches, Achaiah bargained her remaining human soul with Barty for some demonlings to experiment on. The Balseraph promised the Habbalite she'd have her toys "shipped" to her soon. Though Achaiah wasn't entirely pleased with the way her outing occured, she did have a new resource/ally at her call. Hopefully, it would make up for the potential loss of the Hardcore Calabite and Habbalite of Media. Back on the corporeal plane, Meshail decided it was best to not burn any bridges with allies, especially ones who served the same Prince. Meshail agreed that he did, in fact, owe Rose for her part during Sweeps Week. Accepting a Geas from the Lilim put them back on square one. With luck that meant one less being who might interfere with Meshail's plans for big ratings in this "oncoming storm." |
