Characters

Angelic

August, Kyrotate of War, Seneschal of Michigan Soldiers' and Sailors' Monument
The Domination and Seneschal of War's foremost Tether in Detroit, August is also a major liason for angels looking to fight evil. Using his inherent abilities as a Kyriotate, he not only defends his post but also helps keep the Tether strong by sparking conversations about war and honor.

Brody, Cherub Friend of Children
Brody holds two Roles in Detroit, one as an employee at a small daycare center and the other as a lifeguard at a public pool. Though known by most of Detroit's angels, he rarely involves himself in any events that don't directly concern his Superior's Word--he feels that he has enough to do, keeping the children of the city from having to grow up too quickly. If anyone asks if they can provide him assistance he'll always have quite a few suggestions.

Cochmael, Cherub of Judgment, Seneschal of Guardian Building
The recent Tether transfer has left its Seneschal Guardian a little shaken and confused, but Cochmael has, little by little, begun to regain her feet and enthusiasm in her duties. As well as managing the Tether, the Cherub is also the primary go-to angel for servitors of Judgment in Detroit, be it to receive instruction, advice or assistance.

Ea, Elohite of Creation, Seneschal of Michigan Theater
Ea's assigned Tether has been steadily weakening over the past few decades and her primary concern has been keeping the building relevant to Creation. As such, she rarely has time for most other concerns, but she will fulfill any of her required duties as Seneschal without complaint. Followers, allied and associated angels of Creation in the area who need to work off Dissonance are encouraged to do so at Michigan Theater, as the Elohite can always use support in organizing events in the parking garage.

Elisa, Menunite of Dreams, Seneschal of Detroit River Walk
Menunim rarely aspire to or achieve such vaulted positions as Seneschal, but Elisa is a rare Messenger. She strolls along her Tether, the Detroit River Walk, in one of three vessels, both subtly spreading hope and dreams, as well as ready for an assault on her assignment. Like most Menunim, she doesn't interact much with celestials--and only subtly interacts with humanity, as befits her choir--but she can be of help if fellow angels request it.

Jedediah, Seraph Vassal of The Wind
Jedediah is Heaven's premier acquisition specialist in Detroit, Windsor and their surrounding areas. If an angel needs something--be it weaponry, relics or another angel--Jedediah can generally either lay his hands on it and deliver it or knows someone (who knows someone). While the energetic Seraph is useful in obtaining the hard-to-get, calling on him also means he'll generally but into the angel's business and take over for a couple days--at which point he'll get a call to be elsewhere, leaving the angel with both the goods as well as whatever plans the Most Holy had already begun.

Jubal, Malakite of Flowers, Ex-Seneschal of Plum Street
In the tumultuous Tether town of Detroit, only a handful of Seneschals are Word-bound to their Tethers. Jubal was Worded to the Plum Street Tether only days after it was created, hoping to use the binding to guard it better. Unfortunately, no one was able to foresee the events that would cause the Tether to come crumbling less than a decade after its stabilization. Now, the Virtue is fading and attempt after attempt to revitalize it only enable him to hold on. To passers-by he looks like an aged hippie--friendly, with a lot of stories, but with a combination of sadness and desperation behind his eyes.

Kendra, Seraph of The Sword, Seneschal of Assumption Grotto Catholic Church
The Seraph Seneschal is well aware of what took place at the first Tether to The Sword in Detroit and swore to never let it happen to Assumption Grotto. The church is not only one of the primary Tethers for the Host's War faction, but also is a community supporter and a great force for good in the human realms. Kendra doesn't take kindly to angels who lead demons to her doorstep, but will strike any diabolicals down (with great vengeance) if the threaten the sanctity of the Tether.

Kit, Angel of Motown, Ofanite of Creation
Kit's been in Detroit since the late 1800's, listening to musicians and encouraging their musical creativity. In the early 1960's she was working with Hitsville USA as a soundboard engineer and background singer. Listening to the developing "Motown sound" she was inspired in a way she had never been before and petitioned for the Word of Motown, partially by suggestion from her Superior. Eli had only left Heaven three years prior and was not yet under investigation by the Archangel of Judgment. As such, she was able to receive the Word easily. Though she occasionally leaves Detroit, Kit always returns to Motown proper, both to offer other angels a hand where needed and also to keep the soul moving.

Lael, Ofanite of Flowers, Seneschal of Cranbrook Gardens
Chief gardener and Seneschal of Cranbrook Gardens, Novalis's strongest Tether in the Detroit Metro area, Lael is always happy to host a meeting of the Host at his post. The Wheel is as quick with a warmhearted response as he is with an alternative, less violent suggestion towards solving a problem. He won't let the manor house or its forty acres of gardens be despoiled by evil, though. Demons trying to infiltrate the Tether with false claims of redemption will be dealt with just as swiftly as the Ofanite can move from one end of the garden to the other (which is very swift, indeed).

Rrrogh, Malakite of Animals, Seneschal of Detroit River International Wildlife Refuge
Seneschal of the Detroit River International Wildlife Refuge, Rrrogh does everything in his power to keep the Tether healthy and, where possible, growing--even if that means adopting a human form and playing politics. The Refuge is not always easy to access, and the Virtue tries to make sure that any causes the angel is bringing to him also further the cause of Animals. If the angel brings a demon (or demons) to his doorstep, he'll do everything in his power to send them to Trauma or, even better, oblivion. If successful in taking down the diabolicals, the Malakite won't complain too much.

Reuben Reyes, Saint of Judgment
Reuben Reyes is a Saint reborn into this human world. Fathered by a Soldier of God and raised in deep Catholic traditions, Reuben volunteered to come to Detroit while it was still more a stronghold for Hell than Heaven. He became an assistant to the District Attorney in the late 1980's. Now, in his late-40's, he is a high ranking member of the D.A.'s Civil Division league of attorneys. In this position he's also able to watch for any Infernal influence or undue angelic intervention. He reports most of this back to Dominic via various forms of communication and also attends Mass in Assumption Grotto Catholic Church twice a week.

Shamshiel, Angel of Daylight, Elohite Master of Revelation
One of Litheroy's strongest angels, Shamshiel has made Detroit her primary base of operations for the past three years, shining her light into the darkness of mysteries that the Detroit Metro area holds and assisting angels bring Daylight and hope back to Detroit. A powerful warrior and an even more enthusiastic explorer, the Elohite will assist almost any angel, seeking to bring the dankest of Detroit's mysteries into the light.

Thaddeus, Mercurian of Lightning, Seneschal of The Henry Ford
The Mercurian Seneschal of The Henry Ford museum is amiable and affable, but takes little direct action in the War unless pressed. He views his Tether as more a place to inspire human invention and tithe Essence to Heaven, not for mundane tasks like transportation of angels to Heaven and back. Most angels not directly on his itinerary sheet who seek more than a tour of the museum, will at least have to listen to a lecture on the industrious nature of Henry Ford, and humanity in general, before making use of any of the Tether's services.

Demonic

Angela, Balseraph Laboratory Director of Technology
This Vapulan Laboratory Director makes her home in Detroit. Amongst her duties, she is investigating the nature of Tethers. Her total number of projects, however, are many and varied. She may assist other demons with gadgets or advice, but it's also just as likely that demons who land on her doorstep will be put to work or--if it doesn't seem like they'll be missed--used in one of her experiments.

Bagdal, Impudite of Fate, Seneschal of Michigan UFOs Organization
Having taken the Role of Ted Burgley, the Impudite Seneschal of Michigan UFOs Organization spends most of his time on the Internet or running UFO meetings (and getting a little Essence himself from visitors). His time is spent keeping the Tether to Fate both strong and well-hidden. Infernal guests are not generally approved of, but Bagdal will provide shelter or transport downward in the most dire of cases.

Della, Djinn of Factions, Seneschal of Hobby Bar
As well as manager and head bartender at Hobby Bar, Della is also Seneschal of the Tether that has focused on the location. She will typically allow demons to use the bar as a meeting place, so long as they don't get too noisy. Rowdy, sure, just don't make the Symphony jangle too much. It also might be a bad idea to ask her about the best glass for a type of beer unless one has an excuse to leave as the Djinn can wax rhapsodic on the topic for hours.

Joy, Habbalah of Greed, Seneschal of MotorCity Casino
Joy loves her job as Seneschal, testing who is strong enough to escape the debt that too much greed can eventually bring. Her duties leave her little time for interaction with the rest of Detroit's Infernal "community" but she does keep a couple rooms available for The Horde--so long as they're willing to pay her price.

Kafkefoni, Shedite of The Game, Seneschal of Saint Anne's Church
The Corrupter is, quite possibly, one of the most powerful demons in Detroit. With the number of attacks and reclamation attempts on the stolen Tether he has to be. He always has work for other demons and little patience for those who come to him for help. Any assistance requested of the Tether will usually result in a redirection to one of Detroit's other demons.

Lucrecia, Lilim of Theft, Seneschal of 152nd Street Warehouse
Lucrecia is far more reserved and private than most of her sister Lilim. While fellow demons of Theft may use the Tether for only minor trinkets, other demons will have to pay a (sometimes steep) price to make use of the services she provides.

Maiphiat, Calabite of Fire, Demon of Devil's Night, Seneschal of Berberen Party Store
When he gained the position of Seneschal to Berberen Party Store, the Calabite asked not to be Word-bound to his position. Instead, Maiphiat lured the original holder of the Word of Devil's Night to his location and destroyed the other demon. Maiphiat is ruthless, cunning and powerful. He enjoys his position of power and views other demons who need to use the Tether he's assigned to as additional proof and potential uses of his power. The Calabite runs a gang of imps, a few Soldiers and a number of humans unaware of his true nature. Through these thugs he both defends the dilapidated area that his Tether touches and helps keep his Word strong.

Morrthis "Dutch Maury", Demon of Syrup, Impudite Knight of Gluttony
Morrthis or, as he's been known for the past 60 years, Dutch Maury is a friendly Impudite Knight of Gluttony who spends a lot of his time in the Detroit Metro area, promoting and enjoying his Word: Syrup. He tends to only concentrate on the sap-based breakfast topping and, as such, is seen as unimportant to both angels and demons alike. While it's rare for a member of the Host to sit down and share breakfast with the Taker, it's not been unknown to happen. Demons rarely include him in their plans (how many plans involve maple syrup?), but the friendlier members of the Horde will often speak pleasantly of the simple-minded Glutton. Maury seems to know almost everyone in Detroit and is a mutual acquaintance with at least half of the celestial population--regardless what side of The War they're on.
Expanded Character Sheet

Detective Ray Evans, Soldier of The Game
Once nothing more than a beat cop with a life heading towards the toilet, Ray Evans made a deal with the devil--well, a demon, at least--to improve his situation. Now he's a mostly-respected homicide detective with a nice place and a new girl every week. He's still pretty miserable, though. For one, he's been let in on the secret of The War and, even worse, he's been told to watch for suspicious activity amongst demons! Ray's position in the force gives him an eye on a lot of the street happenings and he regularly reports to Asmodeus. Most demons consider him a nuisance--especially since he won't help them hide the bodies.

Rose, Lilim of Media
"Glad I could help caller. And remember, you owe me one!" Rose MacLye is one of the most popular talk radio hosts in the Detroit Metro area, and has a number of fans in Windsor as well. Dispensing invaluable advice to the love-struck, guilt-wracked and just plain lonely, she's been able to place tiny hooks in a number of people. She also keeps people focused on their radios, instead of what they should be doing (driving, working, whatever). Rose is young, but believes she's on the fast track to a distinction or two from Nybbas. She'll often work with Media or Media-allied demons just further prove her worth to her Prince.

Sam, Balseraph of Drugs, Seneschal of Kercheval Korner Store
The Seneschal of Fleurty's strongest Tether in Detroit has been known as Sam for so long that few even remember if it's his True Name or not (it's not). Outwardly easy-going and friendly, the Balseraph is a contact for many of Detroit's Infernal residents and has even begun the drug trade back up in the former convenience store/crack haven of the Chamber Brothers Gang. The Tether isn't large, by any measuring standards, and Sam does try to keep a low profile. The Seneschal doesn't take kindly to loud noises near his place.

Virdriv, Djinn Captain of The War
A newcomer to Detroit, Virdriv is one of Baal's chief advance scouts. Where the Hound of Hell and his motorcycle gang goes, a battle often follows. Virdriv is brutal and cunning and the imps that serve him usually come home battered and bruised by their own captain--but for any scrot, it's a chance to earn recognition even before fledging. Detroit's Tether ability and the recent loss of many potential Tethers to the Host has piqued Baal's interest. Virdriv has come to Detroit to determine if the War should be fought here more forcefully. While he's not had a chance to meet with most of Detroit's demons, sooner or later, he'll see how both they and the angels are positioned.

Wrenchial, Demon of Amps, Calabite Baron of Hardcore
Former servitor of Fire, the Calabite earned Belial's ire by helping raise a fellow demon into one of Hell's newest Princes. Now Wrenchial serves Furfur, Demon Prince of Hardcore in one of the Prince's highest positions. Slightly less than a year ago the Demon of Amps came to Detroit and, while he gets along with a number of Motor City's demons, many wonder what his schemes he has planned for this city.

Ethereal

The Nain Rouge
This redcap-like creature has been an omen of misfortune since white man came to the territory. Though neither powerful nor extremely prevalent on the corporeal realm, the Ethereal does make his home in Detroit, vying for any stray bits of Essence he can gain from the populous. Rumors have it that he has made deals with Beleth for her brand of "protection" and is considered a tool for the using by any visiting demons of Nightmare.

The Snake Goddess of Belle Isle
From an old Native American arose the Snake Goddess of Belle Isle. Despite her name, she is neither a goddess, nor does she have anything to do with snakes. This beautiful Ethereal woman also sometimes appears as a white faun deep in the heart of Detroit's Belle Isle (which was once home to a great number of snakes). Her Ethereal Tether is actually Detroit's oldest Tether still in existence and she has formed uneasy treaties with both Dreams and Nightmares to keep her small Tether from being targeted, treaties which would surely be broken if they learned of her recent activities, serving as an object of worship from dilettantes and actual Native Americans, strengthening both the Snake Goddess and her Tether.
